Craftmade's January 2008 acquisition of Woodard, LLC has broadened its collection of home furnishing and home décor products. Woodard is a strategic addition to the Company's growing outdoor product lines and immediately expands the company’s presence in the growing hospitality market. Sales and related expenses for Craftmade are segmented by two distinct markets: Specialty retailers and Mass merchandisers.
The Specialty market segment of Craftmade’s business includes its two flagship trademarks: Craftmade and Woodard which encompass product lines ranging from ceiling fans and light kits to light bulbs, door chimes and chandeliers. It also includes products in the Woodard, Lyon Shaw and Woodard Landgrave™ lines of outdoor patio furniture. The Specialty segment’s products are marketed through specialized lighting showrooms, major retail chains, electrical wholesalers and patio dealers.
The company’s Mass segment sales consists of indoor lighting, outdoor lighting, portable lamps, fan accessories, outdoor patio furniture and home décor items sold to mass merchandisers, typically marketed under the retailers’ own trade names.Craftmade’s renowned ceiling fan product line has one of the lowest return rates in the industry and the Company continues to gain market share in the lighting showroom channel through new product introductions. During 2009, the Company introduced well over 100 new products. Additionally, its broad range of products has allowed the Company to realize cross-selling opportunities to existing showroom customers. For over 20 years, Craftmade has built its reputation on developing innovative products and merchandising systems.
