LITTLE ELM, Texas—November 10, 2009—Retractable Technologies, Inc. (AMEX: RVP), a leading maker of safety needle devices, announced today that a Marshall Texas jury returned a verdict yesterday finding that all three patents asserted by Retractable Technologies, Inc. ("the "Company") against Becton Dickinson and Company ("BD") are valid and infringed. The jury also awarded damages to the Company in the amount of $5 million. Retractable Technologies, Inc. manufacturers and markets safety medical products, principally VanishPoint® automated retraction safety syringes and blood collection devices, that virtually eliminate healthcare worker exposure to accidental needlestick injuries. Retractable also manufactures and markets Patient Safe™ syringes that are uniquely designed to reduce the risk of bloodstream infections resulting from catheter hub contamination. Our products are distributed by various specialty and general line distributors. For more information on Retractable, visit our website at www.vanishpoint.com.
