| Gentner to Provide Audio Equipment for Super Teaching™ Classrooms |
SALT LAKE CITY, February 27, 2002—Gentner Communications, a division of ClearOne Communications Inc. (Nasdaq: GTNR), has formed a technology partnership with the International Learning Trust (Madison, Ala.) to provide audio conferencing equipment for ILT’s Super Teaching™ classrooms worldwide.
ILT is a nonprofit educational service organization that developed the Super Teaching model to accelerate learning and elevate test scores among students at all levels of education. Super Teaching uses multi-media technologies to create a high-impact teaching environment and has selected Gentner’s XAP™ 800 and PSR1212 products as standard equipment for the audio portion of its systems.
The XAP 800 enables audio conferencing and the PSR1212 processes and mixes audio from a wide variety of multi-media sources, including DVD and CD players, VCRs and personal computers, to ensure consistent, high-quality sound throughout the classroom.
“We chose to standardize on the Gentner equipment because of the capabilities of the XAP 800 and the PSR1212. Both pieces of equipment provide top-quality audio and allow for fine tuning to a level that is not possible with other equipment,” said Rodney Kuznicki, president of Innovative Communications Inc. (Byron Center, Mich.), the integration firm selected by ILT to oversee installation and support for all Super Teaching facilities. “In addition, Gentner’s technical support staff is among the best in the industry,” he said.
Super Teaching classrooms are now being used for daily instruction at Emmons Lake Elementary School (Caledonia, Mich.) and Salt Lake Community College (Salt Lake City).
“In addition to the Super Teaching sites in Michigan and Utah, we are actively working to establish Super Teaching throughout the continental United States, Hawaii, and Australia,” said Bernard Dohrmann, co-developer of the Super Teaching program. “With more than $700 million set aside by congress for public education grants applicable to Super Teaching, we conservatively estimate 10 more sites will be up and running this year with a significant jump in that number the following year.”
