Talk America Radio Networks Appoints New Sales Director |
Sue Swenson, Former West Coast Sales Manager for Premiere Radio Networks, Joins Unit of IDT Corporation Subsidiary, IDT Ventures, Inc.
NEWARK, N.J. – March 5, 2002 – Talk America is pleased to announce today that Sue Swenson has joined the radio syndication network as Vice President, Director of Sales. Talk America Radio Networks was recently acquired by IDT Ventures, Inc., a subsidiary of IDT Corporation (NYSE: IDT, IDT.B), a leading multinational carrier and telephone company.
Swenson spent several years at Premiere Radio Networks, where she was Senior Vice President in charge of West Coast sales. At Premiere, she focused on new business development and was credited for doubling advertising billings three years in a row. Part of her strategy was to introduce network radio to new clients as an advertising medium and to create exclusive program sponsorships.
“If content is the backbone of a successful broadcast company, then revenue from advertising is its lifeblood,” said Howard Jonas, IDT’s Chairman. “Talk America has content for just about every audience an advertiser might want to reach. But in today’s business climate you can’t wait for ad revenue to roll in. You have to go after it aggressively. That’s how Talk America will turn programming into profits.”
At Premiere, Swenson created multimedia advertising opportunities for clients that encompassed the Network’s talk radio shows as well as cable TV, the Internet, and direct mail. She also managed the sales efforts for many of the sales representation programs and networks that Premiere represented, including XM Satellite Radio.
“We intend to build our media company by aggressively taking advantage of the right opportunities,” said Jim Courter, IDT’s CEO and Vice Chairman. “That applies to the properties we acquire, and goes doubly for the people we hire to help us grow. Sue Swenson will play an important part in attracting the advertisers that will help us expand our network.”
Most recently, Swenson was president of a national health radio network, where she successfully marketed many well-known health radio talk shows to the advertising community.
Sue Swenson joins a growing staff of radio professionals at the Talk America Networks. On February 7, 2002, Talk America announced the appointment of WOR veterans Rich Wood as Senior Vice President/Marketing and Operations, and Rich Rapiti as Director of Affiliate Relations.
