Talk America, a Unit of IDT Corporation Subsidiary IDT Media, Offers Unique Live Perspective on Everyday Life in Middle East
NEWARK, N.J. – May 22, 2002 – Talk America personality Bruce Williams this week is broadcasting his popular call-in show, “The Bruce Williams Show,” live from Jerusalem. Talk America Radio Network is a unit of IDT Media, a subsidiary of IDT Corporation (NYSE: IDT.B, IDT), a leading multinational carrier and telephone company.
“The daily news reports tell us just part of the story of what’s going on in the Middle East,” said Howard Jonas, IDT’s Chairman. “Many Americans want to know what’s happening beyond the headlines. Now they can call in to Bruce’s show and get his straight, unbiased observations about how people are going about their everyday lives.”
Williams is spending his days in Israel traveling about the country and getting a “man on the street” perspective first hand. Then he is broadcasting live from 3 to 5 a.m. local time so his U.S. listeners can call in during his show’s regular broadcast hours.
“Talk America isn’t just talk, it’s also action,” said Paul Lyle, President of Talk America. “Instead of just reading the same news we all do and offering an opinion, Bruce Williams is in the thick of things, getting first-hand impressions of what’s really happening and how people are coping.”
“Every news organization in the world is covering the Middle East,” said Jim Courter, IDT’s CEO. “Call-in shows on talk radio offer a unique opportunity to get answers to questions the major news outlets may not be asking. Bruce’s show is giving his listeners that opportunity, along with the confidence of hearing from a trusted friend with no agenda beyond delivering an honest report of what he sees and hears.”
Talk America is offering its affiliates the opportunity to participate in Bruce’s live interviews from Israel. Five have already arranged to do so. Other stations can make similar arrangements by calling Beth Richards at 727-376-4111. Bruce will accept calls from the stations on Thursday, May 23, between 12 noon and 3 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time.
Bruce Williams has recently been joined at Talk America by leading broadcasters such as Mort Crim and Barry Farber. Talk America personalities can now be heard by more than 3 million listeners a week on over 1,200 radio stations nationwide.
