(Houston – September 15, 2004) Plains All American Pipeline, L.P. (NYSE: PAA) announced today that it has activated its Hurricane Preparedness Plan in anticipation of the landfall of Hurricane Ivan along the Gulf Coast. The plan was initially activated on Thursday, September 9, 2004, and activities have continued since then to prepare the Partnership’s facilities that may be impacted by the storm. Steps taken by the Partnership include suspending operations, securing the facilities, relocating equipment and evacuating employees. The Partnership has also activated stand-by resources for any post-storm clean-up and restart activities, and anticipates resuming operations as soon as practicable after the storm passes. Partnership personnel have also met with local, state and federal authorities to participate in regional hurricane preparedness efforts. The Partnership will continue to monitor the path and severity of the storm and take appropriate additional actions, consistent with its Hurricane Preparedness Plan.
The Partnership indicated that it believes it has taken all reasonable precautionary measures to mitigate the adverse impact of the approaching storm and to protect the safety of its employees. The Partnership also stated that it is not possible to forecast with any accuracy the duration of the interruption to its operations.
